Hello! My name is Sandra Waihuini.

I am a graduate student at Parsons The New School For Design pursuing Gender Studies and Design Studies. This multidisciplinary approach has nuanced my understanding of gendered poverty experiences and the inequitable distribution of resources, especially with respect to children and women while the Design Studies MA academic discipline is an approach to understanding design. It has equipped me to use design thinking to analyze design needs to be understood as a larger dialogue about the critical links between identity and consumption.

I have broad user research experience and I enjoy cultivating my understanding of the intersection between gender, design and technology. My ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies has been extremely beneficial as a UX/UI designer. I believe that I am where I am now because of the convergence of multiple disciplines. My diverse background combined with designer expertise, communication skills and appreciation for people is what sets me apart as a designer.
